• Increased Support: The program will support an additional 300,000 people by 2034–35, with higher care levels for those with complex needs.
• New Assessment System: Since 1 July 2025, older people are assessed through the Single Assessment System using the Integrated Assessment Tool, ensuring more equitable access.
• Funding and Budgets: There are eight ongoing funding classifications and three short-term care pathways, with indicative annual budgets ranging from approximately $10,000 to $78,000.
• Care Management: Participants have access to a care partner within a registered provider to help plan and manage their services.
• Assistive Technology and Home Modifications: Eligible participants can access upfront funding of up to $15,000.
• End-of-Life Pathway: Provides up to $25,000 over three months for those requiring end-of-life care.
• Higher Levels of Care: Increased maximum annual funding up to $78,000 for those with higher needs.
• Equitable Contributions: Participant contributions apply only to non-clinical services.
• Efficient Pricing: Prices are capped, with no separate administrative or package management fees.
• Timely Support: Wait times between approval and funding assignment are being reduced, targeting three months by July 2027.
• Expanded Restorative Care: Support has increased from 8 weeks to 12 weeks, with more places available.
• Accessing Services: Participants can find a registered provider through the My Aged Care website, contact centre, or via an Aged Care Specialist Officer at Services Australia.
